    Welcome to Class 2

Learning in Years 3 and 4

In Years 3 and 4, children are encouraged to become confident, curious and independent learners. Our classrooms provide a stimulating environment where children can develop their knowledge, skills and understanding across a broad and balanced curriculum.

    A wide range of lessons

Children experience a variety of engaging lessons throughout the week. Alongside Spelling, punctuation and Grammer (SPaG), guided reading, English and mathematics daily, they learn through science, history, geography, art and design, computing, music, physical education and French. We use practical activities, discussion, investigation, problem-solving and collaborative learning to help children make connections between different areas of the curriculum.

We encourage children to ask questions, explain their thinking and learn from mistakes. Lessons are carefully planned to provide appropriate challenge and support, helping every child to make progress and develop a positive attitude towards learning.

    Learning outdoors

Our outdoor space provides additional opportunities for children to learn, explore and apply their knowledge in different ways. We use the space for practical investigations, team-building activities, physical challenges, creative learning and curriculum-based activities.

Being outdoors allows children to develop their independence, cooperation and problem-solving skills while enjoying a change of environment. Whether investigating the natural world, working together on a practical task or simply enjoying some fresh air, our outdoor space is an important part of life in Years 3 and 4.

    Learning together

Above all, Years 3 and 4 are places where children are encouraged to be curious, resilient and enthusiastic learners. Through a mixture of purposeful lessons, reading, practical experiences and outdoor learning, we aim to give every child the confidence and skills they need to thrive.
